Its easy syringe delivery, five concentrations of carbamide peroxide (10%, 15%, 20%, 35%, and 45%), and three great-tasting flavors (Mint, Melon, and Regular) allow for maximum treatment flexibility based on your patient’s needs. Paired with custom trays or retainers, its sticky, viscous formula stays put with no mess and no slipping,4 delivering a more comfortable whitening experience for your patients.

Opalescence Custom Tray

Teeth Whitening Trays That Work

Opalescence Custom teeth whitening combines your clinical expertise with science-backed formulas. After discussing a patient’s teeth whitening goals, you can choose a flavor and carbamide peroxide concentration that fit their lifestyle and fit them with a custom tray. If a patient has retainers, they can use them instead of custom trays.

From the comfort of their home, your patient will fill the trays themselves and then wear the trays for 15 minutes to overnight depending on the concentration of carbamide peroxide. In general, the higher the concentration, the shorter the wear time.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How does teeth whitening work?

Opalescence whitening gels contain a powerful whitening ingredient, either carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. Peroxide gels break down into water, oxygen, and reactive oxygen molecules. These reactive oxygen molecules oxidize the bonds of discolored stain molecules. By changing the stained molecules, the tooth appearance becomes lighter.11

Reactive oxygen molecules permeate the entire tooth, so there is no need for the whitening agent to be in contact with every surface of the tooth for the entire tooth to be whitened.11

  • Will teeth whitening affect bond strength?

We recommend abstaining from any whitening treatments for 7–10 days before a bonding procedure.12, 13, 14
  • How long do teeth whitening results last?

Tooth whitening results can last a year or more.15, 16 Teeth whitening results are very stable, but depending on the patient’s nutrition and lifestyle habits, the procedure may need to be redone periodically.
  • Will teeth whitening cause sensitivity?

Tooth sensitivity can occur as a result of whitening. If sensitivity occurs, it is transient and disappears after the completion of whitening treatments. If desensitizing treatments are desired, we recommend the use of UltraEZ™ desensitizing gel or Enamelast™ fluoride varnish. Opalescence™ Whitening Toothpaste Sensitivity Formula can also be used to help to prevent or lessen sensitivity if it occurs.
