A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LASER DENTIST: USING DIODE LASERS IN RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY
Diode lasers are a great adjunct to any restorative practice. Whether it’s utilized in cases where we have deep subgingival decay, used in crown and bridge, or as an adjunct in aesthetic dentistry, diodes have a place in the operatory. Join us as we gain an understanding of diode lasers and the science behind them and demonstrate in video format how the diode is an essential tool for every restorative dentist.
We will cover the following:
- The science behind diode lasers
- The deep subgingival box: sectional matrices and diodes the essential tools
- Diodes in crown and bridge: I can’t live without them!
- Diodes for routine surgical procedures: gingivectomies, frenectomies and more!

Dr. Ron Kaminer graduated in 1990 from SUNY at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He maintains two practices, one in Hewlett, NY, and one in Oceanside, NY
INTRODUCTION TO LASERS IN HYGIENE
No doubt lasers are growing in dentistry at a rapid pace. The most utilized soft tissue procedures are completed in the hands of the dental hygienist. Benefits provided to the patient include bacterial reduction, promotion of wound healing, and more comfortable post operative experiences for the patient.
We will cover the following:
- Gain an understanding of the use of lasers and how they are applied in hygiene
- Review procedures within the hygienists scope of practice
- Understand laser assisted periodontal therapy, laser bacterial reduction, and its benefits to the patient
- Review the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners requirements for laser certification
- Review of Laser Safety
KRISTIN HUNTER, RDH
Kristin Pristavec-Hunter is a clinician, educator, and speaker. After earning her degree in dental hygiene from Rio Salado College in Phoenix, AZ, Kristin navigated the dental industry working with various doctors gaining insight and experience with cutting edge tools and processes. To provide second-to-none continuing education courses, she has earned her Academy of General Dentistry PACE provider approval for accreditation. She has also completed her advanced proficiency from the Academy of Laser Dentistry and serves on their speaker’s bureau. Kristin is an active member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and Academy of Laser Dentistry.
