Dental Manufacturer Supports FDA Ban of Baby Products Containing BPA

September 27, 2012 SOUTH JORDAN, UTAH

Ultradent supports the United States Federal Drug Administration’s recent ban (http://1.usa.gov/OoJBzt) of products which contain bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical known to cause harmful physical and psychological effects in children. Ultradent has always maintained a BPA-free manufacturing requirement for its dental sealants (UltraSeal XT® plus and UltraSeal XT® hydro).

“Ultradent does not use, nor do we plan to ever use bisphenol A dimethacrylate (the primary precursor resin to BPA when used in dental materials) in any of our resin dental products,” said Dr. Dan Fischer, President/CEO of Ultradent Products, Inc. “Furthermore, we use the purest form of Bis-GMA resin available for our Bis-GMA-based products. Using highly sensitive analytic equipment, not even a trace of BPA can be detected.”

Ultradent recently launched a website dedicated to BPA education. The website, www.ultrasealxt.com, is the host for frequently asked questions about bisphenol A (BPA) and its use in dental sealants. The tool is equipped with varied media, including podcasts, a children’s development corner, and information specific to Ultradent’s award-winning UltraSeal XT plus.
