  • Ultradent’s Uveneer™ Direct Composite Template System Receives American Association of Women Dentists’ 2019 Best Product Award

October 25, 2018 South Jordan, Utah

The American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD) awarded Ultradent Product’s Uveneer™ Direct Composite Template System as its 2019 Best Product.

The award was presented by AAWD President-Elect, Dr. Brittany Bergeron, to Ultradent representative Kristin Verdone, on August 6, 2018, during the 97th Annual Conference of AAWD held at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa, Georgia.

The Uveneer system is a unique, minimally invasive template system that creates beautiful direct composite veneers with predictable shape and symmetry—all in one visit. Each template mimics natural dentition and is designed to create high-quality, natural-looking anterior composite restorations.

The Uveneer template system uses innovative technologies that help dentists achieve a refined, anatomically correct, high-gloss restoration in a fraction of the time than if done free-hand. Results are reproducible and predictable. It can also be used for mock-ups and shade selection, as well as temporaries.

With a suggested retail price of approximately $660, the Uveneer system is also affordable.

“Being able to meet the patient in the middle when she couldn’t afford porcelain veneers has made a life-long relationship with this patient, leading to referrals, etc.,” says Dr. Brittany Bergeron, AAWD president-elect and 2018 conference chair. “If you’re looking to simplify your technique for predictable and esthetic direct composite restorations, check out the Uveneer composite veneer template kit. You won’t be disappointed!”

“As a woman with a busy practice, I found that traditional free-hand direct composite veneers were artistically challenging, unpredictable, and not always cost-effective. Being passionate about conservative dentistry, I knew there had to be a better way to create long-lasting, esthetic composite veneers more efficiently and easily. I spent years creating and perfecting a template system that any dentist could rely on, which resulted in the Uveneer system,” said Dr. Sigal Jacobsen, the creator of the Uveneer system. “Ultradent and I are so honored that the Uveneer won the 2019 Best Product Award by the AAWD and hope it can make the lives of the clinicians that use it easier!”

As Dr. Bergeron puts it, “If you haven’t tried the AAWD 2018 Best New Product yet, you’re missing out!”

  • Ultradent Introduces Peak®-ZM Zirconia and Metal Primer

February 23, 2018 South Jordan, Utah

SOUTH JORDAN, UT, February 23, 2018 – Ultradent Products, Inc., is pleased to introduce Peak®-ZM zirconia and metal primer. Peak-ZM primer is specifically designed to provide high adhesion between zirconia and metal surfaces and the luting material. Thanks to the chemistry containing the MDP monomer, Peak-ZM primer can increase bond strengths five times compared to using a resin cement alone.1 With Peak-ZM primer, clinicians can feel confident in their zirconia and metal restorations.

Peak-ZM zirconia and metal primer is a single component surface treatment that enhances bond values when applied to zirconia, alumina, and metal/alloys. It contains a blend of monomers, including 10-methacryloyldecyl dihydrogen phosphate (MDP), which produces a chemical bond that significantly increases adhesion between resin-based material and the bonding surface of the restoration. It also features a smart chemistry that includes in-house, custom-synthesized monomers that help enhance its bond strength.

Peak-ZM primer is available in convenient 4 ml bottles (300 uses) and 1.2 ml syringes (100 uses).

To learn more about Peak-ZM primer, call 800.552.5512, or visit ultradent.com.

February 22, 2018 South Jordan, Utah

SOUTH JORDAN, UT, February 22, 2018 – Ultradent Products, Inc., is pleased to unveil new packaging for its hallmark professional take-home tooth whitening system, Opalescence® PF whitening. Opalescence PF whitening system’s new look showcases a modern, sophisticated, clean esthetic and utilizes less plastic than its predecessor. The new packaging also features a nesting concept, which maximizes space and gives each product element a designated place for easy access and product storage. The box uses an invisible magnetic closure, making it easy and desirable to save and reuse, adding to the environmentally friendly, contemporary appeal.

The Opalescence PF tooth whitening system has ranked as the number one professional whitening system worldwide since its release in 1990. The award-winning system features customized take-home whitening trays with syringe-delivered whitening gel. Opalescence whitening gel is known for its sticky, viscous texture which allows it to stay put on the tooth instead of migrating to tissues to provide maximum whitening results with minimum sensitivity. Newest to the Opalescence PF whitening brand is Opalescence® Quick—a 45% carbamide peroxide whitening gel with a 15–30-minute wear time that is now part of Opalescence PF’s take-home line of products. It comes in a Mint flavor. PF whitening also comes in 10%, 15%, 20%, and 35% carbamide peroxide concentrations, in both Regular, Mint, and Melon flavors. The product also contains potassium nitrate and fluoride.

  • Ultradent Products Inc. Celebrates 40th Anniversary

February 1, 2018 South Jordan, Utah

SOUTH JORDAN, UT, February 1, 2018 – This year, Ultradent Products, Inc., a family-owned, international dental supply and manufacturing company, celebrates 40 years in the dental industry. Ultradent began as a family-run, grassroots small business that, throughout four decades, has become a worldwide leader in its field—known for its innovative dental products, rock-solid core values, and family-friendly, people-centered business culture.

Of this milestone, Dr. Dan Fischer, founder and CEO of Ultradent Products, says, “Looking back on the last 40 years, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the sacrifice and hard work put in by so many people—whether it be my own family, our fabulous Ultradent employees, or the leaders in dentistry who championed us from the beginning and along the way in this wonderful endeavor. The time has truly flown by, and it’s amazing to look back on the progress we’ve made since our humble beginnings at the kitchen table of my home.” He adds, “I often say that companies are not made of concrete, glass, and steel. They’re made of people, and people serving people is what business is all about. I believe that is one of the key ingredients to Ultradent’s success over the last 40 years.”

Ultradent began 40 years ago with a simple idea by Dr. Fischer, then a young dentist who had recently graduated from Loma Linda University. He wanted to create a product that would act as a solution to a common problem dentists everywhere face—achieving predictable, rapid, and profound hemostasis in the mouth. He knew that if he could come up with a product that met that criteria, he would not only save dentists time and money by allowing them to work more efficiently, but that it would also allow dentists to produce higher quality, more accurate impressions.

Dr. Fischer began experimenting with different chemistries after-hours at his small dental practice in Salt Lake City, and by 1978, he had invented and patented Ultradent’s first product, Astringedent® hemostatic, a groundbreaking feat in tissue management. That same year, he founded Ultradent Products, Inc., as a vehicle to market and sell his invention.

Astringedent hemostatic’s wild success set the pace for a succession of products that today includes a wide range of innovative dental materials and equipment. In fact, since 1978, Ultradent Products has gone from one offering, Astringedent hemostatic, to offering over 1,600 dental products worldwide.

As business grew rapidly, Ultradent also expanded from its first headquarters, a 40-foot x 60-foot metal hay barn on Dr. Fischer’s property, to its South Jordan headquarters, which encompasses over 460,000 square feet. This doesn’t include its numerous offices and subsidiaries throughout the world in Asia, Australia, Europe, and South America.

Ultradent is also a proud USA-manufacturer. The company researches, designs, manufactures, packages, and ships 95% of what it sells in its South Jordan facility. It also exports 70% of its products beyond U.S. borders to over 100 countries throughout the world. Of this practice, Dr. Fischer says, “We believe in staying in touch with our products. The more one outsources, the more one delegates shipping, or production, or R&D to other parts of the world, the more one loses touch with what has made them who they are.”

Ultradent’s hallmark products include its expanded line of tissue management products, which still includes Astringedent hemostatic, and its world renowned, industry-leading line of tooth whitening products, Opalescence® Whitening Systems. Ultradent’s product family also includes the multiple-award winning VALO® and VALO® Grand curing lights, Ultra-Etch® etchant, and its recently introduced dual-wave soft tissue diode Gemini® laser.

Beyond the dental community, Ultradent supports and donates products to humanitarian efforts both locally, nationally, and internationally, including the Crown Council and Sealants for Smiles. Ultradent also founded and sponsors its own 501c3 non-profit organization, the Diversity Foundation, a progressive outreach program committed to preventing hate crimes and intolerance. The foundation is currently helping support over 50 students in their efforts to pursue higher education at the college and graduate level.

Now in its ninth year, the Cellerant “Best of Class” Technology Award recognizes manufacturers and service providers for their innovations and is one of the most prestigious dental industry honors. “Being selected as a ‘Best of Class’ winner acknowledges companies that create the innovative dental technologies that will help shape the future of our profession,” said Dr. Lou Shuman, Best of Class Founder and Cellerant CEO.

This year will mark the fifth time that Ultradent’s VALO Curing Light family has been awarded the “Best of Class” Technology award. It is the first time that the Gemini 810 + 980 diode laser has been recognized for the honor. Of the distinctions, Mike Simmons, Ultradent’s Global Brand Manager of Equipment, says, “Ultradent is truly honored to receive this award for both the VALO family of curing lights and our newly launched Gemini diode laser. We strive to bring value to the dentist through innovative products, and the VALO curing lights and Gemini laser portray this goal perfectly. We are very proud of our equipment and are humbled by the praise and recognition from the Cellerant Consulting Group.”

The VALO curing light’s multiwavelength light-emitting diode (LED) and optimally collimated beam makes it capable of polymerizing all dental materials. The low-profile design of the light’s wand-style body and the large footprint of the curing head provide unprecedented access to the oral cavity. Each VALO light is precision milled from a solid bar of aircraft aluminum, ensuring unsurpassed durability. VALO Cordless is also available in the colors Graphite, Gold, Fuschia, and purple. The VALO Grand curing light features a 50% larger lens and an additional curing light on the underside of the wand.

“Best of Class” honorees are chosen by a panel comprised of leading voices in dental technology, who come together each year to discuss, debate, and decide what products merit recognition. “We research the best available technologies for an entire year leading up to the announcement of award winners,” said Dr. Marty Jablow of Cellerant. “To be selected as ‘Best of Class’ after all of that scrutiny and deliberation means that our panel is confident in recommending winning technologies to our peers.”

In addition to Dr. Shuman, the 2017 “Best of Class” panel consisted of Dr. John Flucke, Technology Editor for Dental Products Report; Paul Feuerstein, DMD, Technology Editor for Dentistry Today; Marty Jablow, DMD, known as America’s Technology Coach; and Parag Kachalia, DDS, Vice-Chair of Preclinical Education, Research and Technology, University of Pacific School of Dentistry. “Ultradent is extremely honored to be among those recognized by this extremely distinguished panel of doctors, leaders, and innovators. There is no higher recognition than to be lauded by your peers, and for that, we are humbled and grateful,” said Dr. Dan Fischer, founder and CEO of Ultradent Products.

June 16, 2017 South Jordan, Utah

Ultradent Products, Inc., proudly introduces UniCore® Accessory Posts, part of the UniCore® Post and Drill System. Designed for the general dentist and endodontist, UniCore Accessory Posts work to fill voids in the root canal, improving in overall strength of the post and core unit. UniCore Accessory Posts were created to be placed in the root canal alongside a master post, such as the UniCore Post. Adding accessory posts allows for much better adaptation in the case of flared and oval canals, eliminating the need for an additional drilling procedure.

UniCore Accessory Posts feature a tapered shaft for dentin conservation and enhanced adaptation in flared canals. This minimizes gap formation as well as polymerization shrinkage. UniCore Accessory Posts are stronger than composite resins, providing reinforcement of the restoration inside and outside. They feature high translucency for optimal aesthetics and light conductivity, and are also radiopaque, making them easy to see in radiographs.

  • Ultradent Products, Inc. Proudly Introduces Mosaic™ Universal Composite

February 21, 2017 South Jordan, Utah

Ultradent Products Inc. proudly introduces Mosaic universal composite, which balances beauty and performance for lasting, lifelike restorations. Mosaic composite can be used for all restorative purposes: basic or complex. Its well-balanced nanohybrid formula produces restorations of the highest quality. Combining the strength properties required for posterior use with the esthetic characteristics desired for anterior use, Mosaic universal composite ensures superior results both visually and functionally.

Mosaic universal composite’s smooth, pliable consistency allows for total control during manipulation. Once the material is shaped, it won’t flow or slump out of place. Available in 20 intuitive dental and enamel shades, it provides predictable shade matching using single, double, or multiple-layer techniques, as it was designed to emulate the same levels of translucency and opacity seen in natural dentition. Dentin and enamel shades also mimic the same fluorescence that occurs in natural dentin and enamel. The proprietary dispersion of nanofillers in Mosaic composite allows for a high polish and long-term gloss retention, allowing the restorations to maintain a long-term luster. Low volume shrinkage and low shrinkage stress reduce the potential for strain on the restoration during polymerization, while high compressive and flexural strength ensure that the restoration can withstand repetitive chewing and biting forces.

Mosaic universal composite comes in unique, four-gram syringes, featuring an innovative design with a smooth, contoured handle and barrel to allow for easy cleaning while still being easy to grip and identify. It is also available in convenient .2-gram unit-dose singles.

  • Ultradent Introduces New Enamelast® Fluoride Varnish Flavors

July 7, 2016 South Jordan, Utah

Ultradent Products, Inc. is excited to introduce three new delicious flavor offerings to its Enamelast fluoride varnish line: Cool Mint, Bubble Gum, and Orange Cream. The fluoride varnish is also available in the original Walterberry flavor.

Ultradent created Enamelast fluoride varnish in response to overwhelming demand for an effective varnish that doesn’t leave an unsightly, uncomfortable, or gritty residue. Enamelast varnish finally allows patients to leave the dental office with teeth that feel clean and smooth. In addition to its silky texture, Enamelast varnish appears nearly invisible against the teeth, eliminating the embarrassment that many patients feel after other varnish treatments.

For a fluoride varnish to provide the best results, it must adhere to the teeth for the entire recommended time. Enamelast varnish features a patented adhesion-promoting agent that enhances retention, making it easier for patients to receive its full benefits. Enamelast varnish’s natural feel also makes it more comfortable to wear for a longer amount of time, allowing for maximum fluoride uptake.

Enamelast fluoride varnish comes in two convenient delivery options: unit-dose blister packs or Ultradent’s signature syringe and tip application. The Enamelast varnish unit-dose blister packs provide an ideal delivery option for the clinician who prefers the convenience of a one-time use application, or for dental clinics in hospital settings that require the use of unit-dose treatments in which all materials are packaged together. Each blister pack includes a prefilled well and applicator brush, allowing the clinician to dip the brush in the well and paint the varnish on the teeth. Conversely, the syringe delivery facilitates the ability to express Enamelast varnish through Ultradent’s SoftEZ® tip directly onto the teeth for fast application. The clinician can also choose to express the varnish onto the back of their glove before painting onto the teeth. As opposed to the unit-dose blister packs, each syringe of Enamelast varnish provides enough varnish for three to four patients.

  • Ultradent Receives 2016 Earth Day Award For Mine Reclamation Project

April 27, 2016 South Jordan, Utah

The Utah Board of Oil, Gas, and Mining honored Ultradent Products Inc. with its 2016 Earth Day Award for the company’s innovative reclamation of a mine located in Tooele County, Utah. Every year, the board presents the award to Utah companies, organizations, and individuals for going beyond what is required by regulation to protect the environment while developing Utah’s natural resources.

For more than two decades, Ultradent responsibly used the site to resource and refine banded fluorite and barite found within the mine for use in its many dental products. Last August, Ultradent executives made the decision to undergo reclamation of the mine in order to return it to a post-mining land use, making it a possible and safe habitat for wildlife in the future. The project involved demolition and closing the mine, regrading, and revegetating the land.

Larry Garahana, a geologist for the Bureau of Land Management said, “Projects like this are so important because we don’t want to leave old mining disturbances on the ground for safety reasons, and it’s important to bring the landscape back to a suitable habitat and ground for wildlife and woodlands.” He continues, “Ultradent, under the direction of Peter Allred and Erwin Fischer, did a phenomenal job on this project. They went above and beyond.”

Peter Allred, Ultradent’s director of formulation technology says, “We’re a proud Utah company—all of our marketing materials and product packaging feature our iconic Utah landscapes and landmarks, and with this project, we felt a deep responsibility to clean up the site and return the land to its natural state as good corporate citizens.”

Erwin Fischer, Ultradent’s senior vice-president says, “This is something that our team can be very proud of for the effort that they put into it. They gave it their all and spend a lot of time and in the end, I think they really enjoyed it and knocked it out of the park.”

“Earth Day Awards recognize reclamation projects and innovations in environmental technology that surpass what is required by regulation,” stated Utah Board of Oil, Gas, and Mining Chairman Ruland Gill Jr. “It is an opportunity for companies to demonstrate technical expertise and pride in their industry, and concern not only for the economics of their industry, but also for our environment.”

Other companies that received the 2016 Earth Day Award include Compass Minerals Ogden, Inc., Conoco Phillips, North American Mine Services, Inc., Canyon Fuel Company, LLC, and Questar Pipeline Company for their projects.

  • Ultradent Products, Inc. Proudly Introduces MTA Flow ™ Repair Cement

March 7, 2016 South Jordan, UT

Ultradent Products Inc. proudly introduces MTA Flow™ (Mineral Trioxide Aggregate), a repair cement made especially for pulpotomies, pulp capping, root-end filling, apexification, perforation repair, and root resorption.

MTA Flow is a bioactive powder and liquid/gel system consisting of an extremely fine, radiopaque, inorganic powder of tricalcium and dicalcium silicate which sets with a water-based gel. When set, the repair cement forms a layer of hydroxyapatite, which induces a healing reaction. The powder/gel combination also gives the clinician a variety of mixing options needed for an effective, non-gritty, easy-to-deliver MTA.

MTA Flow’s small particle size (less than 10 microns) allows for smooth and easy dispensation, and its proprietary gel formulation makes the product more washout-resistant than other MTAs mixed with water. MTA Flow’s mixing ratio is adaptable to every procedure, allowing the clinician the ability to achieve any desired consistency, from thin, to thick, to putty. Its quick setting time also makes it possible to rinse or air-dry without washing away the MTA within five minutes of application. MTA Flow is the only MTA that can be delivered in thin consistency through a 29 ga Navitip®tip for apexification and apical plug applications.

  • Ultradent Products, Inc. Proudly Introduces the Jiffy® Universal Ceramic Finishing System

February 29, 2016 South Jordan, Utah

Ultradent Products Inc. proudly introduces the Jiffy® Universal Ceramic Finishing System—the only universal finishing system for high-strength ceramics. Ultradent’s new Jiffy Universal Ceramic Finishing System is a finishing solution in which all adjustors and polishers work interchangeably on porcelain, lithium disilicate, and zirconia. Each convenient kit (extra-oral or intra-oral) includes everything the dentist needs, eliminating the need to purchase unnecessary or multiple components and allowing the clinician to create a truly smooth, beautiful, high-gloss finish of the highest quality on all ceramic restorations. Jiffy Universal allows for universal application, eliminating the need for multiple grinders and polishers, saving the clinician time and money.

Because of the extreme hardness of newer ceramic materials, effectively adjusting and polishing ceramic restorations can be a major challenge. If a restoration is not adjusted and polished correctly, it can result in microfractures and abrasion of the softer natural dentition of adjacent teeth. The Jiffy Universal system features Ultradent’s specially formulated diamond grit, providing optimal smoothness and outstanding polishing results. The multi-grit diamond particles also allow for effective adjustment of ceramics for a truly high-gloss finish, and the system’s maximum diamond retention ensures a long service life. Additionally, the system’s autoclavable aluminum block further extends the life of the system.

Only Jiffy Universal Kits offer a universal solution with an optimal number of components so clinicians can efficiently adjust and polish any ceramic material to achieve a truly smooth surface with the highest quality, most natural-looking finish possible. To learn more about the Jiffy Universal Ceramic Finishing System, please call 800.552.5512, or visit ultradent.com.

  • Ultradent Products, Inc. Proudly Introduces Endo-Eze® EVOS™ Endodontic Motor, Endo-Eze® EVOS™ Contra-Angle, and Endo-Eze® Genius™ Files

September 22, 2015 South Jordan, UT

Ultradent Products Inc. proudly introduces the Endo-Eze EVOS endodontic motor, the Endo-Eze EVOS 8:1 contra-angle, and the Endo-Eze Genius reciprocation and rotary files.

Clinicians no longer have to choose between the safety of reciprocation and the efficiency of rotary, thanks to the Endo-Eze EVOS (Endodontic Variable Operating System) motor, which allows for easy movement between the two modes. The EVOS motor is an electric, motor-driven handpiece intended for root canal preparation procedures in the endodontic field. The device consists of a control unit, featuring an LCD screen with a selection of settings. The unit includes a foot pedal, allowing the clinicians to selectively activate/deactivate the motor at will. Pre-programmed for the Genius files, the EVOS motor helps minimize the risk of file separation (in reciprocation mode) while shaping and removing debris efficiently (in rotation mode) — seamlessly meeting the need for safety and efficiency.

The Endo-Eze EVOS contra-angle is an 8:1 reduction, stainless steel contra-angle intended for use during endodontic treatment. The EVOS contra-angle can rotate in both rotary and reciprocation mode, depending on the motor settings. The EVOS contra-angle can be used with the EVOS motor and Genius files, but is also compatible with other endodontic systems on the market.

Last, the Endo-Eze Genius files are designed for use in endodontic treatment for shaping and cleaning the root canal system. The working part of each Genius file consists of nickel-titanium alloy, heat-treated to increase flexibility while retaining strength in order to provide superior instrumentation. The Endo-Eze Genius files were designed specifically for use with the EVOS motor and can be used in both reciprocation and rotary mode.

  • Ultradent Announced as Global Distributor of The Uveneer™ Direct Composite Veneer Template System

August 19, 2015 South Jordan, Utah

Ultradent Products Inc., is pleased to announce global distribution* of Uveneer™, the only direct composite veneer template system available in the dental market today.

For dentists frustrated with unpredictable results from direct composite veneers, the Uveneer direct composite veneer template system is the only user-friendly tool on the market that effectively minimizes the need for carving and polishing so one can quickly produce beautiful anterior restorations. The Uveneer system is a unique, minimally invasive template system that creates beautiful direct composite veneers with predictable shape and symmetry—all in one visit. Each template mimics natural dentition and is designed to create high-quality, natural-looking anterior restorations. The Uveneer system uses innovative technologies that help the dentist achieve a refined, anatomically correct, high-gloss restoration in a fraction of the time than if done freehand. Results are both reproducible and predictable. It can also be used for cosmetic mock-ups and shade selection as well as temporaries during porcelain veneer creation.

The Uveneer direct composite veneer template system works with any preferred composite, and facilitates application on individual or multiple teeth. Each template allows light to pass through to the composite for effective curing, while eliminating the oxygen inhibition layer, resulting in a hard, glossy surface. It also releases easily from cured composite resin. Each Uveneer template is autoclavable and reusable, making it a cost-effective choice. Each individual template is numbered to correspond with tooth number, tooth size, and upper and lower arch, ensuring ease of use.

Australian-based dentist Dr. Sigal Jacobson created the Uveneer direct composite template kit when she found that traditional freehand direct composite veneers were artistically challenging, unpredictable, and not always cost-effective. Passionate about conservative cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Jacobson knew there was a better way to create long-lasting, esthetic composite veneers. She spent years working with engineers to create the perfect design, resulting in the Uveneer direct composite veneer template system.

Ultradent is the global distributor* of the Uveneer direct composite veneer template system. To learn more about, or purchase the Uveneer system, call 800.552.5512 or visit ultradent.com.

  • VALO® Awarded the Pride Institute’s “Best of Class” Technology Award For 4th Consecutive Year

June 22, 2015 South Jordan, Utah

Now in its seventh year, the Pride Institute’s “Best of Class” Technology Award continues unparalleled in its integrity and approach to recognizing excellence in dental innovation. In 2015, the VALO LED curing light, from Ultradent Products, Inc., is one of those lauded as “Best of Class.”

“To be honored as ‘Best of Class’ is a sign that a product has revolutionized, simplified, or advanced its category in a distinctive way,” said Dr. Lou Shuman, "Best of Class" founder. “The manufacturers represented here are driving the conversation for how dental practices will operate today and in the future. The foundation for our success in bringing attention to these products has always been our formula: technology leadership in dentistry, unbiased, and not for profit.”

“Best of Class” honorees are chosen by a panel comprised of leading voices in dental technology, who come together each year to discuss, debate, and decide what products merit recognition. All technology categories are considered, but if there is no clear differentiator that sets a product apart in its category, then no winner is selected. Panelists who receive compensation from dental companies are prevented from voting in that company’s category. Over the years, the panel has developed a rapport that makes space for important conversations about the value of different innovations and how evolving categories become more or less valuable to the general dentist. The spirited debate that follows results in a variety of products—obscure and well-known, basic and aspirational—being honored.

“Technology decisions can be expensive and confusing for many doctors. Our job as ‘Best of Class’ panelists is to eat, sleep, live, breathe, and use technology in our general practices in real, everyday dentistry. We also have a chance to show and discuss these products with dental students and colleagues,” said Dr. John Flucke, writer, speaker, and Technology Editor for Dental Products Report. “This allows us to provide recommendations that a doctor and staff can rely on to make informed decisions regarding their technology purchases.”

The panel consists of five dentists with significant knowledge of and experience in dental technology, including: Dr. Shuman; Dr. Flucke; Paul Feuerstein, DMD, writer, speaker and Technology Editor for Dentistry Today; Marty Jablow, DMD, technology writer and consultant for Dr. Bicuspid; and Parag Kachalia, DDS, Vice-Chair of Preclinical Education, Research and Technology, University of Pacific School of Dentistry.
Mike Simmons, Ultradent equipment brand manager says, “Ultradent is incredibly pleased and honored to receive this distinguished award for the 4th year in a row by such an esteemed and respected panel. Simply put, VALO delivers. It delivers a broadspectrum light that cures both camphorquinone and specialized proprietary photoinitiators. It delivers a uniformly collimated beam to cure a range of surfaces and working differences. It delivers accessibility, which translates to a more comfortable procedure for the patient. And most importantly, VALO delivers real value to the clinician—which is why it has been ranked #1 for four years in a row.”
The Pride Institute “Best of Class” Technology awards were launched in 2009 as a new concept to provide an unbiased, non-profit assessment of available technologies in the dental space. Through print and digital media coverage, the “Best of Class” message reaches the community of 150,000 dentists through multiple touch points—in print and online—educating them about the products. Honoree participation in the “Tech Expo” at the American Dental Association’s Annual Meeting offers face-to-face interaction with the companies as well as technology-centered education provided by members of the panel and the esteemed consultants of Pride Institute. Courses at last year’s 2014 meeting sold out. This year’s event will be held November 5–10 in Washington, DC.

  • Triodent Introduces V3 SuperCurve Kit

March 23, 2015 South Jordan, Utah

Triodent and Ultradent Products, Inc. are pleased to announce the availability of the V3 SuperCurve kit, combining all of the benefits of Triodent’s best in class V3 Ring and System with the SuperCurve non-stick matrix—the ultimate anatomical, contoured, sectional matrix for seamless, predictable Class II restorations. The kit contains one V3 Universal Ring, one V3 Narrow Ring, 125 SuperCurve Matrices in sizes 3.5mm, 4.5mm, 5.5mm, 6.5mm, 7.5mm (20 each), 75 Wave-Wedges (25 Small, 25 Medium, and 25 Large), one pair of Forceps, and two pairs of Pin Tweezers.

The Triodent V3 Ring and System produces tight contacts and a superb seal to the matrix, requiring minimal finishing. The V3 Ring has the widest indications for use of any sectional matrix ring, producing high-quality, predictable Class II composite restorations, every time. The nickel-titanium (NiTi) V3 Ring features exceptional strength for stability, and exerts optimal separation force on the teeth to produce consistently tight contacts. The V-shaped tines eliminate competition with the wedge in the embrasure, allowing the tines to grip both teeth equally, preventing the ring from collapsing into wide cavities.

The addition of the SuperCurve Matrix brings the ultimate anatomical sectional matrix, contoured for greater stability and coated with a non-stick surface for easy removal, to the V3 kit. With the new Triodent V3 SuperCurve kit, clinicians will immediately see the difference in anatomy, finishing time, and ease of use with each item of the kit for superior Class II restorations.

Ultradent is Triodent’s exclusive dealer in the United States. To learn more about, or purchase the V3 SuperCurve kit, call 800.552.5512 or visit ultradent.com.

  • Ultradent Proudly Presents Ultrawave™ and the Ultrawave™ XS Piezo Ultrasonic Units

September 29, 2014 South Jordan, Utah

Ultradent Products, Inc. proudly presents Ultrawave and Ultrawave XS—a new line of piezo ultrasonic devices for the clinician seeking a power scaler that is gentle to the tooth surface while also powerful enough to remove the toughest calculus. The Ultrawave line of piezoelectric devices allows for a variety of uses—from the workhorse of your hygiene operatory to restorative, perio, or endodontic treatments.  Thanks to intuitive Reflex™ technology, both Ultrawave and Ultrawave XS offer optimized performance, reduced chair time, and more comfort for patients.

After years of refinement in the developmental process, Ultrawave and Ultrawave XS offer reliability and efficiency for successful treatments every time. Their ultrasonic piezoelectric linear motion moves back and forth, in contrast to the ellipse of magnetostrictive competitive devices, providing more complete scaling with less effort. The linear motion provides greater consistency and faster performance while treating the tooth more gently.

Ultrawave and Ultrawave XS’s patented Reflex technology features an auto-tuning system, a push-pull system, and a feedback effect. The benefits of this include automatic real-time frequency adjustment (28 kHz–36 kHz) and a controlled amplitude of the tip vibration for smooth operation and patient comfort. Instantaneous adaption and maintenance of power prevents the tip from getting “bogged down” when applied to a dense or heavier load. Both units come with a lightweight handpiece that doesn’t heat up or vibrate, feature a generous 6.5’ cord, and have a compact design for increased mobility and convenience. The Ultrawave XS features an LED handpiece and self-contained irrigation tank with 300ml capacity.
Additionally, Ultrawave and Ultrawave XS offer a convenient Color-Coding System, coordinating the power selection with the different tips. The internal transformer adapts based on the tip and power selection. Both units are compatible with 70+ “S” style tips and are autoclavable at 134°C with a removable nose cone.

  • VALO Awarded the Pride Institute’s “Best of Class” Technology Award for Third Consecutive Year

August 31, 2014 South Jordan, Utah

Ultradent Products, Inc., a global manufacturer and distributor of dental materials and equipment, received The Pride Institute’s “Best of Class” Technology Award for VALO, Ultradent’s curing light, for the third consecutive year. The award is the highest honor for innovation in dental curing lights. Each product honored as “Best of Class” features unique characteristics that differentiate it from the competition in a compelling way and, more importantly, creates value for the general dentist.

“Thank you to the Pride Institute, for recognizing VALO as the ‘Best in Class’ curing light for the 3rd year in a row! We are over the moon with excitement and gratitude about receiving this award by such an esteemed panel of clinicians,” said Suzanne Wilson, Senior Brand Marketing Manager.  “VALO continues to impress clinicians with its durability, power and ability to deliver the required energy like no other curing light on the market.  VALO is the only curing light with a truly blended and uniform beam across multiple wavelengths from 395-480nm.  VALO has an unmatched beam profile showing consistent and uniform energy being delivered, even from a distance.  This matters to clinicians because it illustrates the actual energy being delivered to the restoration versus something one dimensional, like the irradiance output from a radiometer.”

Of VALO’s third consecutive award, Dr. Lou Shuman, president of The Pride Institute and founder of the “Best of Class” Awards initiative stated that, “Our advisory panel determined after a year of research and testing that VALO is still the most advanced curing light on the market, which is why VALO was selected as the winner of The Pride Institute’s ‘Best of Class’ Technology Award for the third year in a row. This is nearly unprecedented, based on how rigorous the selection process is —which speaks to the progressive nature of VALO’s technology.”

The panel that selects the “Best of Class” winners consists of five dentists with significant knowledge of and experience in dental technology, including Dr. Shuman; John Flucke, DDS, writer, speaker and Chief Dental Editor for Dental Products Report; Paul Feuerstein, DMD, writer, speaker and Technology Editor for Dentistry Today ; Marty Jablow, DMD, technology writer and consultant for Dr. BiCuspid; and Parag Kachalia, DDS, Vice-Chair of Preclinical Education, Research and Technology, University of Pacific School of Dentistry.

VALO will be showcased at the “Tech Expo” Booth 4139 at the American Dental Association’s Annual Meeting from Oct. 9 to Oct. 14 in San Antonio, Texas.
