Product Details

Consepsis V solution is a viscous formulation of Consepsis® 2% chlorhexidine antibacterial solution. The viscosity of Consepsis V solution makes it the perfect disinfectant in most cases where you want to have more control than a liquid will give you. Consepsis V solution can be used as an antibacterial agent in the canal(s) between appointments.

Note: Do not use Consepsis V solution in a root canal with sodium hypochlorite, as a harmful brown precipitate will form.

  • Designed for endodontic disinfecting purposes
  • Stays in place, even in maxillary canals
  • 2.0% chlorhexidine gluconate

Indications for Use

Consepsis V

Use Consepsis V solution to disinfect during endodontic treatments. The viscosity gives you more control than a liquid disinfectant.

Clinicals

Consepsis® V

Disinfecting the Canal

Use Consepsis V solution to disinfect canals during endodontic procedures, as an intracanal medicament, or before obturation.

Technical Details

Use in Place of Formocresol as an Anti-Bacterial Agent

In case of emergency treatments when there isn’t enough space created to place calcium hydroxide, Consepsis V solution can be placed as the interappointment medicament. Use a NaviTip® tip to express Consepsis V solution in the canal, place a cotton pellet, and seal with temporary cement.

IndiSpense Syringe

Verify flow of all syringes prior to applying intraorally. If resistance is met, replace tip and recheck. To avoid cross contamination, do not re-use tips.

Procedures

Establish Patency

  1. 1

Fill canal with ChlorCid V (3% NaOCI), and then place a small amount of File-Eze® (19% EDTA in a water-soluble viscous solution) at canal orifice.

  2. 2

After scouting the canal with a #10 or #15 SS Endo-Eze® Hand K-File, use the Genius® #30 .08 orifice shaper with Genius motor in Rotation P1 mode in the straight part of the canal.

  3. 3

Irrigate with 3–5 ml of ChlorCid solution. File-Eze solution is no longer needed in procedure.

  4. 4

Fill canal with ChlorCid V solution.

  5. 5

Take a #15 (or larger) SS Endo-Eze Hand K-File and establish the working length. Use the Endo-Eze FIND® apex locator to determine the foramen position.

  6. 6

Irrigate with 3–5 ml of ChlorCid solution.

Preparation and Glide Path

  1. 1

Fill canal with ChlorCid V solution.

  2. 2

Create a glide path using a #15 SS Endo-Eze Hand K-File to the working length. Using watch-winding movements, open space until the file is loose.

  3. 3

In calcified canals, move to a #20 SS Endo-Eze Hand K-File to the working length in watch-winding movements. Use the file until it is loose.

  4. 4

Irrigate with additional 3–5 ml of ChlorCid solution.

Instrumentation/Obturation

  1. 1

Fill canal with ChlorCid V solution.

  2. 2

Use #25 .04 Genius File with Genius motor in Reciprocation GEN mode to the working length.

  3. 3

Irrigate with additional 3–5 ml of ChlorCid solution.

  4. 4

Fill canal with ChlorCid V solution.

  5. 5

Depending on the anatomical shape of the canal (curved and narrow, curved, or straight) use one of the following apical final enlargement Genius files:

    • #30.04: Curved and Narrow canal
    • #35.04: Curved canal
    • #40.04 or #50.04: Straight canal

Use the chosen final file in Reciprocation GEN mode to the working length. After opening space, remove the file, press the mode button on the Genius motor to switch to Rotation P1 mode and, with the same file in rotation, finish removing debris.

  6. 6

Irrigate with additional 3–5 ml of ChlorCid solution.

  7. 7

Evacuate with the Ultradent® Luer Vacuum Adapter and Capillary tip.

  8. 8

Fill canal with Ultradent® EDTA 18% solution. Leave for approximately 60 seconds.

  9. 9

Evacuate with the Ultradent Luer Vacuum Adapter and Capillary tip.

  10. 10

Soak with Consepsis® 2% chlorhexidine gluconate solution. Leave for approximately 3–5 minutes.

  11. 11

Evacuate with the Ultradent Luer Vacuum Adapter and Capillary tip.

  12. 12

Dry with paper points for 1–2 seconds (each point should be damp approximately 1–3 mm at tip).

  13. 13

Canal should be damp, NOT desiccated, prior to obturation with EndoREZ® canal sealer.
